Real Estate Law

Buildings, shopping malls, and certain residential projects, are organized under the regime of Condominium or Horizontal Property, and require the filing of special petitions and obtainment of approval from the administrative authorities. KATZ & LOPEZ offers counseling in all the necessary steps that must be followed for the adoption of the condominium (or horizontal) property system, and renders its services for the drafting, approval, protocol inscription and registration of the project at the Public Registry of Panama. The firm counts with experience in the field and has counseled and represented various construction and development companies in such projects.

The firm also handles general land or estate related operations, such as land segregation, exemption of the real-estate transfer tax, elaboration of purchase option agreement, lease agreements, constitution and cancellation of mortgages, exemption of real-estate tax, obtainment of title of dominion over improvements for Colon Free Zone companies, and in general all of those transactions inherent to the development of the construction activity and real estate business.
